Summer learning is a great way to keep your child's mind sharp during the break. It helps them remember what they've learned, gets them ready for the next grade, and builds their confidence going into the new school year. By joining summer programs, your child stays engaged and prepared, making the transition back to school smoother and more successful.
We are excited to announce that we will be hosting a series of workshops focused on writing and math skills. These sessions are designed to support our students in refining their skills. These workshops are a fantastic opportunity for your child to deepen their understanding and proficiency in these essential subjects. They will be led by current teachers who are passionate about helping students succeed and grow. Please see below for relevant details concerning the workshops:

Focus: Our primary focus throughout will be expository writing. Expository writing helps break down complex ideas into simpler parts, making it easier to understand and learn about different topics. We are providing students with the skills and strategies to explain, describe, or inform the reader about a topic. Students will develop their writing skills through the use of expository writing to develop a paragraph—from creating a topic sentence to adding supporting evidence to a final conclusion.
|
Focus: Students will be focusing on crafting persuasive paragraphs, a style of writing aimed at convincing readers to agree with a point of view or take a specific action. We are developing student's skills and strategies, by including the Hamburger paragraph structure, grammar, punctuation, and descriptive writing techniques to help them produce grade-level work. The focus will be on creating multi-paragraph articles with attention on finding and using relevant evidence (critical analysis) supporting their thesis and using segues to conclude a paragraph while introducing the reader to a new paragraph.

At the end of the language workshops, students will be assessed on the material they learned by creating an effective paragraph or article. They will also have the opportunity to showcase their skills to other students.
