We feel so lucky to have found Oxford Learning Burlington. Our 6-year-old daughter has struggled with English and reading, but since joining, her confidence and skills have grown so much. I wanted to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to this amazing learning facility. I had my son and daughter both go through the Oxford Learning program (Nottinghill, Oakville) during their high school years. My kids are worlds apart. Two extremes. I am sure many of you can relate. My son, disliked school and could barely get a passing grade. How did Oxford Learning help? Gave him the confidence to be able to understand the material. They took the time to understand how he learns and his personality. The match was made with the right tutor and that is where the magic happens. His experience was priceless. He graduated high school and went on to college and has been thriving. My daughter, on the other hand, is an overachiever. She is on the other spectrum, where she loves to learn but wants to maintain her high average to keep all doors open. She was matched with a tutor who majored in the sciences. She used the time to ask hard questions and truly understand the material. This took a different approach, and Caitlin’s team successfully met the challenge. My son, who is currently in Grade 10, has been at Oxford Learning tutoring since Grade 4. The team at Oxford Learning has been fabulous with him and has helped him tremendously, recognizing his learning style. They are open to suggestions from parents and provide ongoing and timely feedback. I also particularly like that they review his report cards from school to try to further enhance his learning and improve his school grades. They are also very flexible in scheduling adjustments, including make-up classes. They respond to emails and phone calls in a very timely manner. Overall, it has been a fabulous experience. How wonderful that Caitlin has opened a second location in Burlington. Our experience with Caitlin and her team in Oakville is beyond our expectations. All the teachers are experts in their subjects. The kids do their homework or can work to get ahead in their subjects by working in the Oxford Learning workbooks. Most importantly, the kids enjoy going to Oxford Learning. The atmosphere is fun, and the kids make new friends. My kids went to Francophone school and were equally supported very well. In Grade 12, the centre also provides support for university programs. I still thank Caitlin for researching and recommending my daughter’s Chemical and Physical Sciences Gateway university program at McMaster. This was a life-changing opportunity for a young woman. Thank you, Caitlin, and to all the teachers and members of your staff. The staff helps me almost daily with scheduling and ensuring my child has extra tutoring when needed, such as when there are tests or exams. For example, some provincial exams are coming up. Sarah and Hannah organized extra classes that week. Caitlin and her entire staff always respond immediately, so we can feel comfortable with our requests. I really like the fact that the kids can even review their test results with their teachers at Oxford Learning. Our family experience with Oxford Learning has been nothing more than excellent. I have two kids who both attended with very different needs. When I brought him in, he had just finished Grade 9 and was failing key courses. Oxford Learning saw something in him that he did not see in himself (and neither did we). Not all centres are the same. I can attest to this. Caitlin and her team at Oxford Learning goes beyond the basics. They provide exceptional guidance and support to each student that goes through their door in a way that is responsive to the student's needs. In more than one occasion they responded to my child's call for help despite the short notice, even while my child was not enrolled in any of their programs at the time. They are super reliable. They always find a way to assist! Above all, they share my desire to see my child grow and develop. They actually see my child, instead of the dollar sign attached to just having another client.

Over 6 years, my two children were tutored at Oxford Learning North in Oakville, and they both benefited greatly from the experience. Our son enrolled in Oxford Learning Burlington Appleby-Dundas in April 2025 because he was struggling in Grade 10 academic math. Caitlin and her team at Oxford Learning Burlington Appleby-Dundas assessed his strengths and struggles. The tutors were quick to tailor tutoring to meet his individual needs. We are overjoyed that our son's mark improved by an impressive 12% by the end of the term. His math teacher even noticed our son's confidence improving by the end of the term. We are so pleased with our son's progress and feel that he has been given the tools to tackle new concepts in math going forward. Oxford Learning Burlington Appleby-Dundas also provided great support to our son as he is working on developing his writing skills. Caitlin provided great support and guidance through the process of writing an essay in his summer school Grade 11 English course. What started as an overwhelming task became manageable. The management team in Oakville North is EXCELLENT, and it is apparent every day how seriously they take their roles and how much they love their roles too! The staff are here for the kids, first and foremost, and you can feel it as soon as you walk into the centre. My daughter had been an Oxford Learning student for many years. We were pleased that we decided to keep her in the Oxford Learning Centre for most of her elementary and high school. The staff at Oxford Learning were always very kind and welcoming, creating a comfortable environment for learning. They helped her make a strong foundation for her English skills and a deeper understanding of the material than she had before. Overall, they are lovely, knowledgeable and highly enthusiastic people, and I would highly recommend anyone who has kids in elementary or high school.
Oxford Learning Center in West Oakville (now opening a location in Burlington) has been an invaluable part of my children's education. My youngest son attended from Grade 1 through Grade 12—at his own request. Every August, I’d ask if he wanted to continue, and every year, his answer was a resounding “yes.” He told me that Oxford gave him confidence in class, especially in math, because he already understood the material before it was taught at school. Today, he is thriving as a second-year Commerce student at Queen’s University. Each child is different, but I firmly believe that Oxford played a role in building my son’s academic success and self-confidence. My two older sons also attended Oxford during high school. One is now a lawyer, and the other is excelling in corporate sales. Beyond academics, the administrative staff at Oxford Learning Center in West Oakville are incredibly kind, caring, and a pleasure to work with. They truly have the students’ best interests at heart. I highly recommend Oxford Learning Center to any parent looking to support their child’s education and confidence.
Last year, one of my Grade 12 students in my Oakville North location, Zakarya Byr-Kdar, tragically passed away. It was a devastating loss, and one that is felt every day.
Zakarya was a student who touched the lives of countless people. He championed inclusivity and belonging within his school, and enriched his community through acts of kindness and service toward others. The world was a better place because of Zakarya.
Amid the devastation of this loss is an example of how to conduct ourselves in this world. Zakarya is a model for all of us, and with his passing, has encouraged us to act with even greater care for our community and make a difference whenever we can.
In honour of our student, Zakarya Byr-Kdar, we have partnered with Zakarya’s mother, Oksana Kachmar, to create a scholarship in Zakarya's name and likeness.
The scholarship is worth a minimum of $5,000.00 this year, and is for students pursuing Biological Sciences, Health Sciences, or Life Sciences in their post-secondary studies.
Last year, the scholarship was offered to graduating students at Zakarya’s school, White Oaks Secondary in Oakville, but Oksana has decided to extend the scholarship to all graduating students in the Halton Region this year (Oakville, Burlington, Milton and Georgetown).
