Our Summer Camp is designed around exciting weekly themes, giving children something new to look forward to each week while keeping learning fun, meaningful, and engaging. Each theme blends hands-on learning, creativity, movement, and social connection in a supportive, small-group environment.

Every day begins with a welcome circle and check-in question, helping children settle in and connect with their peers. Campers then participate in theme-based STEM and enrichment activities, carefully planned to spark curiosity and encourage problem-solving.
Some of our popular theme weeks include:

Cooking Up Science (Kitchen Science Week)

Children explore simple food science through safe experiments, café role-play, and DIY food prep activities.

Rhythm & Beats (Music Week)

A fun, high-energy week featuring karaoke, rhythm games, and a special music circle experience that encourages confidence and expression.

Pirates & Princesses Week

Campers take part in treasure hunts, solve riddles, decorate crowns, explore compass science, and go on imaginative adventures.

Create! Art Week

A hands-on arts and crafts week with projects like origami, drawing lessons, and creative experiments such as lava lamps.

Superhero Training Academy

Children design costumes, create superhero stories, talk about strengths and “superpowers,” and even make short movies.

Throughout the day, children enjoy literacy activities (writing, reading, and reflection), outdoor play, structured games, and guided free play with puzzles, blocks, magnet tiles, and more. Each day ends with calm reading and wind-down time.

Our theme-based approach allows children to learn without pressure, build confidence, and stay engaged—while still developing important academic, social, and life skills.

FAQ

All Your Oxford Learning Waterdown, Questions,
Answered!

1. Where are you located in Waterdown?

Address: 4-80 Hamilton Street North, Waterdown

Intersection: Hamilton Street and Cedar Street

Plaza: Cedar Plaza

2. Why do families come to Oxford Learning?

Not because of fractions. Or reading fluency. Or a failed test.

Families come to Oxford Learning because their bright, creative child is feeling lost.

Because confidence slipped through the cracks.
We don’t just help with homework.

We teach kids how to learn—how to think, focus, and stay motivated.

No timed worksheets. No quick fixes.

Just better learners — for school and for life.

Why a 3:1 teaching model?

Independence is the goal—but support is still essential.

Our model mimics a classroom: Students learn to manage distractions and refocus, all with a teacher at the table guiding every step.

It’s the best of both worlds: practicing real-life skills with focused, expert support.

Do you work with students who learn differently?

Yes! We are neuro-affirming.

From ADHD to Dyslexia—we meet students where they are.

We build trust, adapt to their needs, and teach in a way that truly works for them.

Why do you charge for a dynamic assessment?

Because it’s worth it. Our Dynamic Assessment is a comprehensive, one-on-one look at how your child learns—their cognition, executive function, and academic skills.

We don’t just place them in a level. We uncover how they think, where they get stuck, and what will help them grow.

How often does my child come to class?

Twice a week. Always.

Because one session isn’t enough to shift mindset, habits, or skills. Sessions that are either 60 or 90 minutes long, depending on your child’s needs.

What happens if my child misses a class? Do I get a makeup?

Yes! If you let us know by 9 a.m. the day of, we’ll happily reschedule it within 60 days.

Do you operate in the summer?

Absolutely. We go year-round because learning doesn’t stop when it’s sunny.

Most students lose 2-3 months of progress over the summer—the dreaded summer slide—making the return to school harder than it needs to be. We see summer as a chance to rebuild skills, boost confidence, and get ahead. Just two hours a week can help start September with less stress.

How does billing work?

We charge a flat-rate monthly tuition that is due on the first of each month.

Want to save a little? We offer a variety of prepaid packages that offer discounted monthly rates. We also offer a 5% sibling discount. Payment is accepted via credit card, e-transfer, cash, and cheque.

Will I know how my child is doing?

Yes. We check in every six weeks to share how things are going, set new goals, and celebrate wins. Need an update in between? We’re always here.

What makes your tutors qualified?

All of our tutors are trained in Oxford’s proven methods and get ongoing coaching to stay up to date. Many have backgrounds in education, but what really matters is their love for teaching and helping kids succeed.

What results can parents expect to see?

Parents can expect to see improved grades, stronger skills in reading, math, and French, and a noticeable boost in their child’s confidence and independence.

With consistent attendance, most students show steady progress in both core subjects and study habits, setting them up for long-term success.

Testimonials

Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Both a professional and comfortable learning environment. Provides flexible learning goals specific to the needs of my children while also fostering an interest in learning. My children work on subjects that pose difficulty for them and also spend some time increasing their knowledge in subjects they enjoy. I have noticed an increase in confidence in my children and a positive impact on their homework/test scores. Both my children (Age 8 and Age 11) happily attend Oxford Learning.

Our daughter went to Oxford Learning in Waterdown for four years during high school. She went twice a week, and it made her high school years much easier, having the help that Oxford Learning gave her. The staff were very helpful and not only worked with her on her math and reading skills, but also assisted her whenever she had a homework assignment that she was struggling with. Going to Oxford Learning for the four years gave our daughter not only the skills she needed for her school assignments, but it also helped to build up her confidence. We want to thank all the staff who worked with our daughter over the years, especially Michael, who regularly appraised her work and advised on her needs. Oxford Learning was the best thing we could do to help our daughter succeed in high school, and she graduated with Honours. We highly recommend Michael and the team at Oxford Learning.

★★★★★
We are very happy with one-to-one math lessons started one year ago by our son, Gr.11. After his teacher's explanations, he was really pleased to have a complex understanding of all the math subjects. He was so pleased that he decided to start studying physics, too, this semester. I will highly recommend Michael as a wonderful teacher for any student at any level.

My son started at Waterdown Oxford Learning in elementary school to help him with English and mathematics. The tutoring sessions were a huge help over the years, and he continued at Oxford Learning until he completed high school. There are not enough words to express how wonderful and supportive the tutors have been. My son developed a love for learning, and they have given him the tools he needs as he heads off to University in the fall. He really enjoyed his time there. I am very grateful to the Waterdown Oxford Learning staff. Thank you!

★★★★★
I started going to Oxford Learning Center in Grade 10, when I was struggling with math and lacked a good work ethic. The teachers at the center were amazing, teaching me how to be the best student I can be in a way that actually resonated with me. I continued with Oxford Learning throughout the rest of high school, improved my grades to get into the programs I wanted, and developed a solid work ethic that has carried through to this day. Once at university, I struggled in one of my courses and came back to Oxford Learning for help, as I trust them and their willingness to adapt to my more difficult subject. The teachers and staff at Oxford Learning are so caring towards all of their students, really wanting every single one of them to succeed. I have had an amazing experience at Oxford Learning over the years and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for help in school or looking to get their child ahead in their younger years. Oxford Learning has shaped me into the student and person I am today.

★★★★★
Fabulous staff and facility. My 17-year-old son needed to upgrade his Grade 11 math for college, and we were on a time crunch and did not do well with online learning. Michael worked one-on-one with him, and the results were fabulous! He got 100% on his midterm, and we are just waiting for final grades.

My child was struggling with her Grade 10 math, so I enrolled her in Oxford Learning. Michael was so friendly and was very good at explaining concepts so my child could understand them. Over the two years she was at Oxford Learning, I saw her confidence in math grow, and her marks steadily improve. I was very impressed and would recommend this service to any child who needs extra help with their studies.

The staff at Oxford Learning in Waterdown are enthusiastic, well organized and dedicated to individual student success. Since my son started Oxford Learning, he has made significant gains, not only in the subject that he was focusing on at Oxford Learning but also with his other subjects in Grade 10. Oxford Learning has had a huge impact on the way he approaches studying, closing gaps, and improving his reading comprehension in all areas in a relatively short amount of time. He has acquired solid learning strategies, greater independence, and has much more confidence in his abilities. The small group sessions are invaluable in keeping him on track. We are thrilled with the major improvement in his report card marks since attending Oxford Learning. I would highly recommend this program! Gayle C.

I have been going there as a student for about a year now, and I love it. Everyone there is super friendly at all times, and especially Michael, who is my tutor. Michael has helped me with multiple subjects within the past year, but mainly math, and he has been an amazing help in bettering my understanding of high school math, like Advanced Functions and Calculus. I would recommend this place to everyone!
