Every student’s program starts with our Dynamic Assessment, which determines how your child learns and which skills require the most support. It is essential for better understanding your child’s strengths and weaknesses and the unique ways they learn.
We are not just looking at academic results; our Dynamic Assessment helps us identify why your child is struggling so we can fix the problem.
Our Dynamic Assessment includes:
- Insight into WHY your child is struggling
- A cognitive portion that helps us better understand how your child thinks and learns
- An academic portion that lets you know where your child stands academically
- Valuable insight into how your child performs in testing situations
Why Do We Call it Dynamic?
The Dynamic Assessment looks at the test results and how your child is performing during the testing. Are they open to trying, or resistant and shut down? Are they nervous or engaged? These observations of your child under testing help us better understand your child as a learner.
Unique
Our assessment is dynamic because it adjusts according to your child’s responses. If your child shows capabilities in one area, we mark that level and move on. In this way, every student’s assessment experience will differ depending on their results.
Interactive
The test is interactive. Some areas require drawing, manipulating objects, and repeating sentences to the assessor.
Quiet
The test takes place in one of our assessment rooms, away from the main classroom. This way, your child can think clearly and is not distracted by other things happening in the centre.
Stress-Free
The test can take up to two hours for older students—but it doesn’t have to be stressful! There’s no need to worry on test day: the assessment is not so much a test as it is an opportunity for your child to demonstrate what they know and what intellectual skills they possess.

A Better Summer Begins at Oxford Learning!
Take Advantage of our Summer Programs!
Our year-round Academic Program continues throughout the summer. Our individualized programs have helped hundreds of students improve their marks and build self-esteem.
Your child will return to school motivated, confident, empowered with enhanced skills, and ready to dive into a new academic year. We offer programs for both elementary and high school students.
1. Elementary school students
A. High School Entrance Exam Preparation
If you wish to apply to a high school that still requires an entrance exam, we have a great enrichment program! Aimed at helping you prepare for the toughest exam, it also sets you up for an amazing end-of-elementary school transition and prepares you for high school. Interview preparation can also be planned when needed.
B. Summer Camp
Take advantage of a great academically focused summer camp! For children between the ages of 5 and 10, we offer a morning summer camp where kids can brush up on their numeracy, literacy and oral skills in a fun and engaging environment!
Individualized Academic Program & Activity Time
Date: June to August
Option 1: Days: Monday, Wednesday & Friday Times 9:30 am-12:30pm
Option 2: Days: Monday to Friday. Times 9:30am-12:30pm
(a minimum two-week registration is required with either option)
C. 10-Hour Writing Workshop
Our workshop, offered in English or French, will review all the necessary skills to write an amazing narrative essay! This workshop offers great practice for those going into grades 4 and 6 to prepare them for upcoming ministry exams.
D. 10-Hour Math Review
Over the summer, students can lose up to 2.6 months of math knowledge—that’s why keeping math skills strong is so important! In just ten hours, we can review all necessary concepts from the previous year or introduce next year’s concepts ahead of time. This program is a great option, especially for students going into Grades 3 through 6!
E. Transition to High School Program (20 hr program)
This program is for students starting high school in September. We know transitioning to high school is stressful for both students and teachers. Our program is designed to prepare these students by reviewing all the necessary language and math skills and giving students better study skills to ease their transition into high school. Students will gain better academic skills and the confidence to start the year on the right foot.
2. High school students
A. 20-Hour Summer School Classes
Each of our summer school programs is offered throughout the summer, with flexible scheduling. These programs allow students to review math, science, English, French or history, following the MELS curriculum, in a small-group environment that allows for individualized learning. Each of our courses comes with a letter of verification upon completion to share with your school. This program could either be a review or an introduction to next year's material.
We offer:
- Secondary 2 and 5 ministry exam review and preparation (English or French)
- Secondary 1-5 math
- Secondary 1-5 history
- Secondary 4 and 5 science
B. 10-Hour Writing Workshop
Our workshop, offered in English or French, will review all the necessary skills to write a great, well-structured essay. We can tackle informative, narrative, argumentative essays, and literary analysis. This program will benefit anyone from secondary one through five.
