I have been with the Oxford Learning team for almost 7 years now and I still love every minute of my time spent there! After graduating with a degree in Applied Linguistics from the University of Victoria in B.C, I was hired as an ed. Director and teacher at the Dollard Oxford Learning Centre. After completing my contract, I was given the great opportunity to open my very own Oxford Learning Centre! My duties at Oxford Learning include accounting, advertising, marketing, hiring, teaching and anything else that comes up at the center. My days are filled with fun and laughter as I love to joke around with my staff and clients! If you have any questions regarding our programs, please feel free to call me and I will be more than happy to tell you how amazing Oxford is and what it can do for your child.

Andrea Juarez

Directrice-programme en français

Dans notre joli centre Oxford à NDG, je suis la directrice du programme de français. Après avoir étudié en adaptation scolaire et en enseignement de l’anglais langue seconde à l’UQAM, j’ai enseigné dans plusieurs écoles de l’ouest de l’île. Cependant, je demeurais toujours à la recherche d’un endroit où j’aurais une approche plus personnalisée avec mes élèves et leurs parents. Quoi de mieux que découvrir le centre Oxford! Je fais partie de l’équipe depuis le mois de juillet 2008, mais à vrai dire j’ai l’impression que je suis ici depuis des années. Mes journées sont remplies de rencontres avec les parents, planifications des leçons des élèves, vérification des travaux et toute une panoplie de détails qui font en sorte que notre programme batte son plein.

Marie-Lyne Beaulieu

Professeur de français

Je suis Marie-Lyne et je travaille au centre comme enseignante en français et en mathématique au niveau primaire depuis bientôt quatre ans. Je suis aussi étudiante à temps plein en enseignement en adaptation scolaire et sociale à l’Université du Québec à Montréal. Travailler au centre Oxford me permet non seulement de mettre en pratique les notions qu’on m’enseigne à l’université mais également d’apprendre énormément de choses à travers les enfants. À la suite de mon Baccalauréat, j’aspire travailler comme orthopédagogue dans une commission scolaire ou être enseignante dans une classe spécialisée. Étant passionnée des sports de plein air, j’aimerais pouvoir intégrer de telles activités à la vie scolaire car selon moi, l’activité physique aide à l’apprentissage et permet de développer une confiance en soi essentielle à l’accomplissement scolaire. Grâce au centre Oxford, je pourrai d’ici là continuer à transmettre ma soif d'apprendre aux enfants et les voir sourire lorsqu'ils passent les portes du centre… Quelle belle vie!

Ashley Rankin

English/Math Teacher

Hi! My name is Ashley Rankin and this is my third year teaching Math and English here at the Oxford Learning Centre. I recently graduated from McGill University with a degree in psychology, and I am preparing to continue my studies at the post-graduate level. Working at Oxford Learning is great for me. Watching my students’ grades and confidence improve is incredibly rewarding. Everyone here has their own goals; this means individual ones for each student and personal ones for myself. We all work together to achieve our best. Oxford is a great and supportive environment that offers many personal challenges. I can honestly say that I love my job!

Fiona Vickers

English/Math Teacher

My name is Fiona and I have worked at Oxford Learning since November, 2008, teaching English, math and sciences. I grew up in Calgary, Alberta and moved to Montreal to go to school. I am currently studying Biology at the University of Concordia and would like to do my PhD in Mycology. I enjoy working at Oxford Learning because it allows me to interact with students from kindergarten up to secondary 5. At Oxford Learning, my mind is constantly active and I delight in the rewarding feeling of seeing progress with students’ school work and how this progress builds their confidence. Oxford Learning is a positive environment to work in; not only do my bosses encourage the students, but they also encourage me with my studies.

Maxime Huot

Professeur de Math et Sciences

Je m’appelle Maxime et j’ai 26 ans. J’ai gradué du College Jean-de-Brebeuf en 2001 pour ensuite entamer une formation d’ingénieur électrique. J’ai ensuite decidé d e me réorienter en Physique à l’université de Montréal. Par la suite, j’ai commencé un deuxième bac. en Sciences Biologiques que je terminerai en décembre 2009. Dans mes temps libres, je fais du cheerleading (équipe de l’université de montreal), du karaté et beaucoup de sports. Je trouve qu’il est important de garder un équilibre entre le sport, les loisires et le travail et c’est en partie ce que nous apprenons à nos élèves ici à Oxford Learning. J’enseigne les mathématiques et les sciences au élèves du secondaire et du Cegep et ce, en français et en anglais. Je fais partie de l’équipe Oxford depuis 2 ans.

Sebastien Bureau

Math/Science Teacher

I am 24 and having recently received my Bsc. in molecular biology from University of Montreal, I would call myself a contemporary renaissance man. I was born in the city of Sherbooke. My father is a French Canadian and my mother is an American; both are teachers. As such, I acquired both the French and English languages from my early years, along with an insight on teaching. During the day, I occupy myself as chief of research and product development at a local organic fair trade brewery. In my spare time I own a small organic nutraceutical company. In the evenings, I teach mathematics, biology, chemistry and physics at Oxford. When I was younger, I had a lot of difficulties in mathematics and my tutors helped me develop a passion for sciences, which I feel I must share with others. This passion that I share with my students is the reason I work at Oxford Learning, and the reason my teaching makes a difference!

Guillaume H

Professeur de français

Né un jour de neige, je décidai d’aller étudier là où tombe chaque hiver la neige. Etudiant à l’Université de Montréal en Littérature française et francophone, j’accomplis cette lourde tâche en 2006 pour me spécialiser en culture de l’Asie de l’Est et spécialement le Japon. Janvier 2009, entrée en fonction à Oxford Learning dans le but de renouer avec la littérature et le français. La lecture et l’écriture sont des atouts essentiels au bon apprentissage d’une langue et surtout à sa préservation. Si j’enseigne à Oxford Learning c’est pour voir et entendre évoluer de jeunes sportifs de la langue française. Gravir avec eux des montagnes grammaticales, se reposer en des champs lexicaux, découvrir les landes vocabulaires. Car après tout, comme le disait quelqu’un d’important : « Enseigner le français c’est accepter d’apprendre le français ».

Sarah Breger

English Teacher

Hi, I’m Sarah and I’m an English teacher here at Oxford Learning. I’m currently at McGill University in Religious Studies with a Russian Studies minor, which helps me understand the difficulty some have when trying to understand languages. My favorite aspect of being a teacher is when a student finally understands a difficult problem. It’s also great because I have a lot of fun working here; the students are super and the atmosphere is wonderful. Every day is different!

Valerie Noelte

Director - English Program

As a former high school teacher and Oxford teacher, I am happy to have joined the NDG Oxford team as the new English Education Director. My background in different instructional institutions, and my current graduate studies in Educational Technology have led me to develop a deeper interest in the value of providing each student with the tools they need to reach their full potential. Attending to student needs on an individualized basis, and maintaining strong levels of communication with parents and school teachers is one of my main priorities as it is essential in establishing the grounds for student success. I am thankful to have the opportunity of working in such a positive environment while pursuing my passion of helping children gain confidence in themselves and in their capabilities.

Valérie Roussel-Lemay

Coordonnatrice

C’est pendant mes études en psychoéducation à l’Université de Montréal que j’ai commence à enseigner le français à Oxford. Après quelques temps, on m’a proposé le poste de coordonnatrice que j’occupe depuis un an. Je m’occupe de la comptabilité, de l’administration et j’assiste Andrea dans les évaluations et l’élaboration des programmes. J’ai eu la chance de toujours adorer apprendre et c’est ce que j’aime partager avec nos élèves. Nous essayons toujours de faire d’Oxford un endroit propice au plaisir , au jeu. Vous me verrez tous les jours au centre et il me fera toujours plaisir de vous aider! C’est une joie d’être témoin des bons coups de nos élèves, tout comme de leurs mauvais jours et il me flatte de croire que nous occupons une place aussi importante dans leur journée que celle qu’ils occupent dans la nôtre.
