Hi, my name is Jason, and I am the Director at Oxford Learning at the Lawrence Plaza. I, too, was once a student here!

What we have here at Oxford Learning differs from anything you typically see in after-school programs. Although learning curriculum subjects is important, developing learning skills and habits will define each student’s future. Our approach is to change how students learn – presently and for the rest of their lives. 

My father, John LeLiever, started this Centre in 1997, seeing that Oxford Learning provided a unique opportunity to help students enhance their future learning in a significant way. I took over eighteen years later and intend to continue that mission in new, innovative ways.

Previously, I worked in tech sales for a small hospitality industry startup, where we quickly took over because we listened attentively to what people wanted. I welcome your feedback. I love learning about new ideas, old history, and new languages. I lived in Vietnam and Cambodia for two years while teaching English and Business. I grew up sailing, and although I love it – I don’t get a boat.

Coming from a family of teachers, I have always believed education is the greatest tool to define who you want to be. You need to make sense of your world and your place within it. Our mission is to help children achieve their highest potential, and they can do so by acquiring the habits that have always been within their reach.

My career began as a civil engineer, but my passion for problem-solving soon shifted from building structures to building minds. Over the past 12 years in education, I’ve worked as both a teacher and an education manager, with extensive experience supporting gifted and neurodivergent students. This background allows me to approach learning with an analytical perspective and ensure our teaching team is well-equipped to help every student succeed.

For the past five years, I’ve served as the Education Director at Oxford Learning. What I value most about Oxford Learning is our ability to tailor programs to each student’s mind. I believe that understanding a child’s unique way of thinking is key to their long-term success. I enjoy working closely with families to create personalized learning plans that support students both in and out of the classroom.

Outside of the center, I enjoy cooking, travelling, and hosting board game nights with friends.

Fun Fact: I have lived in four different countries and speak three languages!

Hello everyone! My name is Jade, and I am the Lead Education Coordinator. I am an Ontario Certified Teacher, work for the TCDSB, and hold a Bachelor of Science in Biology from York University.

In my role, I work closely with families to better understand each student’s needs and create a clear plan for success. I strive to ensure parents feel informed and confident while their children feel supported and motivated throughout their learning journey.

I have always had a passion for education and helping students discover their strengths and reach their full potential. Over the years, I have had the opportunity to work with students with a wide range of learning needs, which has shaped my approach to be patient, adaptable, and encouraging.

Outside of Oxford Learning, I enjoy travelling, yoga, spending time with family and friends, and working on creative projects like crocheting, painting, and pottery!

Hi! My name is Gian. I hold a Bachelor’s of Science in Mathematics with a minor in Physics from Toronto Metropolitan University. I have always had a strong passion for helping students reach their full potential. I am currently pursuing Teachers College with the goal of one day teaching my own classroom.

My goal is to help students overcome the anxiety that often comes with challenging problems while helping them build confidence in their abilities. I believe that confidence, combined with a positive mindset, is essential for success in STEM subjects. Supporting students as they develop new skills and seeing their progress over time is incredibly rewarding, and it motivates me to continue inspiring the next generation of learners.

Outside of teaching, I enjoy going to the gym, playing video games, longboarding, listening to music, and mixing music with my DJ controller!

Hello! My name is Ali, and I am the high school education coordinator at Oxford Learning. I hold a Bachelor of Science from York University in Earth and Atmospheric Science, with a specialization in Space Science. My goal is to become an OCT certified high school teacher.

Outside of teaching, I enjoy playing soccer, drumming, and volunteering at my former high school. During my time at York University, I worked part-time as a student ambassador supporting prospective engineering students. This is where I discovered how much I enjoy guiding students through important academic transitions, an experience that ultimately led me to tutoring.

Throughout my time at Oxford Learning, I have truly enjoyed working with each of my students. Every learner brings a unique perspective and approach, which makes every lesson engaging and rewarding. I look forward to continuing to tackle challenging problems together!

Hello! My name is Efe and I am the Little Readers Education Coordinator. I majored in Psychology, Neuroscience & Behaviour with a specialization in Music Cognition from McMaster University.

As a coordinator and teacher at Oxford Learning, I work closely with students and their parents to tailor programs that support each student’s unique educational journey. With over five years of experience working with children, my number one goal is to help students build confidence in themselves and their abilities because I believe confidence is the first step in developing a genuine love for learning.

When I'm not working, you’re most likely to catch me reading, drawing, or learning a new song on my guitar!

Hello! My name is Megan, and I am the Elementary Education Coordinator. I graduated with honours from Wilfrid Laurier University with my Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Film Studies.

Working at Oxford Learning has been extremely rewarding and humbling as I aim to pursue my teaching certificate in Primary/Junior Education in Teachers College. Having the opportunity to start my teaching career with such a wonderful group of students and team by my side has filled me with immense joy and ambition for my future. I aim to foster positive relationships with our students through my patient and uplifting approach to education and teaching. I am so grateful to be able to positively impact the lives of our young generation within the field of education.

Outside of my time at Oxford Learning, I enjoy art, fashion, music, self-care, cooking/baking, outdoor activities, and spending time with my loved ones!

Hi! I'm Maheer! I majored in Computer Engineering and hold a Master’s in Electrical Engineering from Toronto Metropolitan University. I mainly teach math and high school science courses at Oxford Learning.

I am passionate about teaching. Critical thinking is an important skill for everyone to develop, which is what motivates me to engage in education.

When I'm not at Oxford Learning, I like to pursue typical STEM-related hobbies like coding, building and flying FPV drones, and building electronics. I also participate in semi-professional engineering design at my university's Formula One design team.

Fun fact: I like to dabble in amateur graphic design!

Hi! My name is Rosha, and I’m a high school math and biology teacher. My major is Mathematics for Education with a minor in Biology at York University.

I chose education because I love helping students reach their academic goals, whether it’s working through a tricky problem or tackling a new subject. Seeing students gain confidence and develop an appreciation for the subject is one of the most rewarding parts of teaching for me. As an educator, my goal is to ensure that students leave their session not only with all of their questions answered, but also with a stronger understanding of the material and the confidence to ace that test!

Fun fact: I’m Iranian, and I speak Farsi and English. When I’m not at Oxford Learning or school, you can usually find me teaching kids how to swim, catching some much-needed naps, or hanging out with friends. I’m also a big fan of anime and comics, so feel free to recommend more to watch/read because I will…eventually!

Hello everyone! My name is Rozhan, and I teach science and mathematics. In high school, I spent two years preparing for the Biology Olympiad (IBO) through a gifted program, and I’m now majoring in Biomedical Science at York University.

I love working with children because they have the energy and potential to explore so many subjects. My goal is to help students recognize their value, build confidence, and develop strong, curious minds.

What I appreciate most about Oxford Learning is our unique approach to learning, guiding students to think critically, ask questions, and find their own answers. This approach not only helps them now but also gives them tools they’ll carry into future learning.

In my free time, I enjoy literature, music, and exploring art and culture, often from a cozy spot at home with good food and great company.

Hello, My name is Kourosh. I am from Iran and currently an undergraduate student majoring in Biomedical Science at York University. After completing my degree, I plan to continue my academic journey in medical school.

I have been helping my classmates with their studies since elementary school, but my first significant tutoring experience was in Grade 12, when I immigrated to Canada to complete high school. During that time, I worked as a peer tutor under the supervision of my teachers, assisting both my classmates and younger students in science and math courses. I found this experience very rewarding.

As a tutor, my goal is to provide a positive learning experience, spark curiosity in the subject, and, most importantly, help students build the skills and confidence they need to succeed.

Hello! My name is Areez and I am a high school math and science teacher. I am currently double majoring in Cell and Molecular Biology and Mathematics, and minoring in Statistics at the University of Toronto. I am especially interested in the intersection of the two subjects, and in exploring how mathematics can be applied to different aspects of biology and healthcare.

I became a teacher because I remember what it’s like to struggle with learning and how much it meant to have someone there to help me. I want to offer that same support and encouragement so students don’t feel alone in the process. I love supporting students as they become more comfortable and confident with difficult topics. Helping them overcome challenges and build skills is the most satisfying part of teaching.

Outside of school I like to read and craft, anything creative and hands on! I also enjoy spending time outside, going on walks, hiking, or just sitting in the sun.

Hi! My name is Alex, and I teach Little Readers, English, and French.

I have a Bachelor of Arts and Science with a specialization in English and Cultural Studies from McMaster University and I’m currently working towards a Master of Information at the University of Toronto.

I grew up speaking both English and French at home and first started teaching a few summers ago when I worked at a French summer camp. I loved the experience and continued teaching French during my undergraduate degree before starting at Oxford Learning. I have loved getting to know students and seeing their confidence grow at Oxford Learning, not just by learning new material, but by developing the skills that help them reach their goals and proving to themselves that they can do challenging things!

When I’m not at Oxford Learning or in school, I love to read, try different crafts, and hang out with my cat, dog, and snake!

Hi! My name is Elisa, and I am a French Teacher. I have a strong academic background in French, having attended French schools within the Conseil scolaire Viamonde and currently majoring in French at the University of Toronto.

My passion for teaching comes from enjoying working with students and a desire to support them in a way that feels engaging, encouraging, and clear, much like the kind of teaching I valued most in my own education. At Oxford Learning, I look forward to helping students discover the beauty of the French language while also building their confidence as learners. It is especially rewarding to see their progress over time and to know I can play a role in that growth.

Outside of teaching, I enjoy travelling, playing the piano, cooking, and swimming. I speak five languages (Romanian, English, French, Italian, and German) and a fun fact about me is that I played the bassoon for six years during high school!
