Exceptional Tutoring Programs In . . . Thornhill

Hi! I'm Sinthura, and I manage the day-to-day at Oxford Learning Thornhill, from tracking student progress to making sure every family feels supported. Teaching has always been my passion. Even though I earned my Honours BA in Health Policy from the University of Toronto, I kept finding my way back to the classroom, first as a Lead Tutor and now here, and I'm currently pursuing my path into teaching. My goal with every student is long-term success; academically first, but also the confidence, habits, and love of learning that carry them well beyond school. A big part of my role is supporting our tutors so they can bring their best to every student, every session. My favourite part of the job is watching students go from "I can't do this" to "wait, that was easy!"

Outside the Centre, I enjoy watching films, trying out new recipes, and spending time with my loved ones.

Hi, my name is Sabeen, and I mainly assist students from Kindergarten to Grade 11, focusing on math and literacy. I recently completed a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Psychology at York University, expanding my knowledge in both the sciences and humanities. While studying, I tutored various high school and fellow university students in the subjects I was familiar with, which honed my academic and social skills. This experience developed my approaches to teaching, observing that students responded to personal connections, positive reinforcement and visual demonstrations of concepts. Eventually, the same translated to Oxford Learning, in which students expressed themselves confidently when realizing they were in an educational environment that accommodated their academic and socioemotional needs. Plus, the learning never feels one-sided, as each day feels like both I and the students are absorbing skills that will be applicable to school and other life experiences. Overall, I enjoy witnessing students comprehend new concepts and understanding why they are so important beyond receiving high grades.  

Besides tutoring, I love to crochet, read different books and go on long walks in local parks. Also, I look forward to watching new releases in cinemas during the fall and winter seasons, and am planning to go with friends. When it comes to media, I like to record personal interpretations of what I have watched/read and share them at a book club.

Hello, my name is Anahita, and I’m a math and English teacher at Oxford Learning. I graduated from the University of Toronto with an Honours Bachelor of Science, specializing in Molecular Biology with a minor in Chemistry. While I enjoy teaching both math and English, math has always had a special place in my heart. My love for math started at a young age when my dad would teach me through games and fun, engaging activities. Those experiences made learning enjoyable and inspired me to start helping family members and others with math from a young age. In Grade 12, the head of my school’s Math Department asked me to stay after school to help other high school students with subjects such as Functions, Advanced Functions, and Calculus. After graduating from high school, I continued teaching math as a side job, even while pursuing a different field of study at university. During the COVID-19 pandemic, I also taught students online, which gave me the opportunity to continue doing something I genuinely enjoyed.
Teaching has remained an important part of my life over the years. As a teacher, I try to make learning engaging, approachable, and suited to each student’s individual needs. One of my favourite parts of teaching is seeing students become more confident in themselves and watching a challenging concept finally click!

team!
I graduated from high school as a bilingual student in French and English, and I am currently
pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Hons) in Professional Music with a minor in Business at
Toronto Metropolitan University. Teaching allows me to combine my creative artistic background
with a structured, goal-oriented mindset. I'm passionate about helping students build
confidence, tackle academic challenges, and discover a genuine love for learning. Whether
we’re breaking down a new concept or finding new ways to approach a problem, I’m here to
support every student on their unique journey.
Outside of the learning centre, you'll usually find me listening to or playing music, diving into a
good book, or heading downtown to explore new spots and hidden gems around the city.
Fun facts about me: I speak three languages (English, French, and Spanish), I'm a huge soccer
fan, and I love finding new coffee shops to try!

Hi! My name is Vitthahan, and I am thrilled to be a part of the Oxford Learning Thornhill team!

I teach English and math across all grade levels, as well as senior biology and chemistry. I am currently studying at the University of Toronto Scarborough, double-majoring in Human Biology and Conservation & Biodiversity.

Being a tutor for over three years, my teaching approach focuses on making challenging concepts feel relatable, interesting, and applicable to the real world in a meaningful way. I love seeing the moment a student realizes what they’re capable of, as teaching isn’t just about grades - it’s about giving students the confidence and tools to become independent, lifelong learners and contributors to the world around us.

Outside of academics, my world revolves around animal science, zoology, and wildlife biology. Along with my passion for the natural sciences, I am a dedicated pianist of 11 years - a practice that has instilled in me the value of patience, steady discipline, and attention to detail, all of which carry over directly into how I mentor my students. In my spare time, you can usually find me staying active at the gym or diving into wildlife and conservation topics!

Fun Facts: I’m working toward becoming a veterinarian, my favourite artist is J. Cole, I love working out, and I could talk about zoology for hours! 

Hi, my name is Varun, and I'm excited to be a part of the Oxford Learning Thornhill team as a math tutor!

I'm currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Toronto. I tutor math at any grade level, and my favourite part of teaching is helping students finally understand a concept or question they've been struggling with. Watching that eureka moment hit is one of the best parts of what I do. 

Teaching has always been a big part of my life. I've had really great teachers in high school and amazing professors in university guide me and help me learn. So, whenever I study a topic, I picture myself tutoring someone else on that same material, and it helps me learn. In a way, I'm always practising the art of teaching. I hope to keep honing my craft so I can be of even better help to my students!

Outside of tutoring, I enjoy reading, expanding my music taste, and watching sports.

Fun fact: I love taking the bus!
