There’s always something happening at our centre—and as we wrap up the term and look ahead to 2026, here’s what’s new this month:
We’ll be closed for Winter Break from December 20 to January 4, with classes resuming Monday, January 5. If you’d like to reserve or adjust your child’s class times for the new term, now’s the time! January spots are filling quickly.
For ages 3–6, our Little Readers build early literacy and math through play-based, structured lessons. We focus on phonemic awareness, letter-sound connections, handwriting, early reading, number sense, and confidence in small groups. After-school spots are available - ask about availability for your child’s age.
Students in Grades 8–12 are preparing for final assignments and January exams. We offer support in high school math, sciences, and English, as well as study skills and organization strategies for long-term success.
Our $295 Dynamic Assessment is the foundation of personalized learning at Oxford Learning. It reveals how your child learns and where they need support, helping us design a program tailored just for them.
With winter break approaching, students are working hard to solidify skills in math, reading, writing, and study strategies. If your child needs support catching up—or is ready to get ahead—we can help tailor a plan for the new year.
My daughter started her Little Readers class with Oxford Learning West Van after she turned 4. She has made great progress after 1.5 years of learning. Now she enjoys reading books by herself every day and recently started to write diaries with one or two sentences. My daughter likes to go to Oxford Learning and enjoys working on homework books. I can see that Oxford Learning provides the students a fun learning approach which also adapts to their cognitive development. Although my daughter's teacher at Oxford Learning has been changed a couple of times, it did not concern me, as my daughter likes all of her teachers there, and more importantly, the Center Director James, is on top of everything. I've had smooth communications with James and got updates about my daughter's progress from him on a regular basis. I myself also benefit from talking with James. He's given me tips and inspiration about how to support my kid's reading at home.
My daughter has been with Oxford Learning for a little over six months. When she first arrived, she didn't have the fundamentals of reading down - therefore would guess majority of the words based on pictures. James and his team really dug down and created a learning plan that would work for her in a safe and fun way to get those reading basics by understanding her comprehension level. Now, her confidence and approach toward reading are so noticeable that her teachers have commented and praised the commitment to the work put in. Everyone is so kind and focused on the same outcome you have for your child! Highly recommend.
My child has really enjoyed the program and we’ve already seen great progress. We can always feel the team’s determination to make things as smooth and consistent as possible for families, especially during holiday seasons and summer when the dynamics of students and teachers change. Thanks to James and his amazing team. This is our experience so far — I’ll be happy to update as we continue.
At the beginning of this school year, Isabelle was really struggling. Her reading, writing, and comprehension were not at grade level, and she was finding it difficult to grasp new ideas and concepts. She was quickly falling behind in all school subjects, even by the end of the first month! By October, I had enrolled Isabelle with Oxford Learning. I have always wanted the best for my child, as education is a very important issue. I had heard many positive remarks about your program and felt it was worth a try. As school went on, I noticed remarkable progress with Isabelle’s schoolwork and self-esteem. Her grades have improved, and her confidence has grown to a new level, both socially and academically. She works very hard in school and is no longer struggling as before. Overall, she is a much happier student!
My son Michael attended Oxford Learning during the last school year. Michaels’ grades increased tremendously as a result of the assistance of your staff. The dedication and persistence of those who helped Michael paid off considerably in that Michael graduated from grade eight with a 75% average and received the Most Improved Student Award from his school! I am sure that his achievements during the last school year will do much to provide the impetus that he needs to begin his high school years and to continue with his academic requirements. Above all else, Michael’s change in attitude toward his school experience was exceptional. We originally had Chloe going to Oxford Learning two days a week, but when we noticed how much she flourished and enjoyed it, we quickly signed her up for a third morning. Chloe’s eyes light up when she tells us about her mornings, and she asks if she has school in the mornings during our bedtime talks. She shrieks with excitement when we tell her that she does. We think that she would happily attend every day of the week! Our experience at Oxford Learning has been absolutely wonderful; you’ve given her a love of learning.
Oxford Learning's in-depth knowledge and sound recommendations struck me as unique. After having tried different methods and organizations, I discovered that Oxford Learning had it all. They carefully assessed my child and pinpointed his strengths and weaknesses. They took the time to explain how they could help my child and suggested a schedule that would fit my son's schedule and learning style. Ever since my son started, he has become a more independent learner and started asking for help from the Oxford Learning staff; and, now, from his own teachers. Now, we have more time to do things together instead of trying to get him to do his homework. He completes his homework on any subject by himself, or with the help of the flexible and caring Oxford Learning staff. A true transformation in less than three months. I almost forgot! Not only did they help my son to learn how to learn, but their administrative team is also fantastic. Every student will struggle to pay attention in class at one point or another. Whether it's a disruptive classmate, a subject they are not interested in, or a non-stimulating instruction style, attention struggles can have many sources.
