I completed my Bachelor of Education through Laurentian University's Concurrent Education program in Sudbury, Ontario. Immediately after graduation, I travelled to France where I taught English to a classroom of Francophone Grade 3 and 4 students. I had some challenging moments but most importantly, it was a very rewarding and enjoyable experience. It made me become a more confident, passionate and interactive educator. It was by far one of the biggest accomplishments thus far in my life. I was given the opportunity to do what I love, teaching, while at the same time immersing myself into France's culture.
I became an Oxford coach, which has been such a rewarding experience. I thrive for the satisfaction that students have when they achieve a goal. It's when the 'light bulb' goes off and they have that smile to reveal their self-fulfillment. It's those moments that confirms why I love working with children and being a part of their academic development and success. Each day I promote a positive, fun and interactive learning environment that successfully facilitates all learning abilities. I dedicate myself to the care and development of students, and recognize the importance of treating all students equally and with respect. Oxford Learning is like no other tutoring centre; not only do we make clear and concise connections between Oxford Learning and school, but we also teach our students how to learn, while developing the essential strategies and tools needed for lifelong growth and success. Not only do I love travelling but I also enjoy visiting new restaurants, having a good laugh at comedy clubs, attending sporting events (baseball, basketball or hockey) spending time with family and friends and simply relaxing!

As a teacher, the Oxford program stood out to me, as students become “active learners” and step back from the facts to truly learn how to learn at their own pace. Upon my first day at Oxford, I was blown away by the confidence and enthusiasm flowing from the student and teacher interactions. I immediately felt a part of the positive and inclusive learning environment, and am now very excited to be a member of the Oxford Learning team! My on-going goal as an educator is to explore differentiated learning strategies, thus to unlock each student’s potential to be the best they can be. At Oxford, I am looking forward to helping students achieve their goals, as they help me accomplish mine too. Outside of Oxford, I am an adventurer, a household comedian, and film connoisseur. People would describe me as friendly, energetic, fun and of course, hilarious. An accomplishment that I will always be especially proud of is obtaining a Triple Gold Achievement in figure skating. With a lot of practice, hard work, and focus, I was able to reach my goals and gain more confidence to take on the challenges that await.

I like being able to see improvements and understanding from my students. Building bonds with the students and the friendly staff is another reason I enjoy my time at Oxford. Oxford's curriculum and friendly environment sets it apart from other learning centres. Oxford is essentially one positive family. Its curriculum is based on developing cognitive learning skills and helping students build upwards from the basics. I applied at Oxford to build my experience in teaching. I was looking for an opportunity to positively affect students while learning more about myself in the process. People would describe me as open-minded and hardworking. I am always open to trying new things whether it’s a new teaching method or a new food. I am very busy but that doesn’t stop me from putting a full level of effort into all of my work. My biggest accomplishment has been earning my second degree black belt in martial arts. It took 8 years of dedication and hundreds of hours of strenuous training. It is an achievement that I will never forget. Outside of Oxford I like to stay active in sports and in the community. The sports I most actively participate in are Nordic skiing and basketball. I also volunteer around the community with the Rotary club of Bolton.

I enjoy being an Oxford coach because I believe we make a difference in the lives of students that seek assistance from us. Oxford coaches focus on creating a positive environment and help change students' attitude towards their weaknesses. Being an Oxford coach has taught me that with a little encouragement, students begin to realize that they are capable of overcoming any obstacles they are faced with. Being part of this process is very rewarding! Oxford focuses on learning strategies as well as individual goals for each student while other tutoring centres emphasize independent learning. Oxford teachers are able to work with students, understand their specific learning style and apply a teaching method that will benefit their students the most. At Oxford, students use the skills they learn to build independence. Being a student myself, I understand the importance of strengthening and building study skills early in order to have the self-discipline to reach goals in the future. I applied to Oxford because I wish to help motivate students and assist them in working towards their goals so they are confident enough to reach them on their own. People would describe me as an approachable and friendly individual. I am easy to get along with and love making people smile! My biggest accomplishment so far has been dedicating myself to school and education. I have been challenging myself with individualized study methods which have taught me both discipline and independence in terms of learning. Some of my interests include reading and spending time with friends, family and my dog. I am also a huge fan of horror movies; I absolutely love a good scare!

I am a proud graduate of the Consecutive Education program at York University. I also hold a Bachelors degree in Chemistry. My goal as an educator is to motivate and allow students to be engaged in their own learning. In order to keep my students engaged I works towards incorporating their hobbies into my lessons. I became a teacher because I wanted help students shape their dreams, provide redirection and impart knowledge and wisdom. I want to offer students new ways of perceiving the world around them. Ultimately, I want students to love what they do and have the confidence to do what they love.
What I enjoy most about being an Oxford coach is that it allows me to teach all grade levels, and I get a quick snapshot of what students should know at each grade and what prior knowledge is needed for the next grade level. Working at Oxford gives me the experience to assess the students' progress on a regular basis. I get to work with a diverse array of students all bringing in their knowledge of the subject being taught. What makes Oxford different is that I have a large support centre. I know that I am not by myself and I can collaborate with other teachers to obtain the best possible outcome for the students. I applied to Oxford because I wanted to work with students of varying age and learning levels. I know that I can help students reach their potential and it's more than just teaching the material. I am able to take a holistic approach in teaching the students about goal setting and how I can help them reach their personal best. People would describe me as helpful, caring, creative, enthusiastic, dependable, optimistic, hardworking, and compassionate. My biggest accomplishment is graduating university. In my spare time I like drawing, painting, skating, sports.

Coaching at Oxford keeps me refreshed and challenged as a teacher. Oxford is unique because it provides each student the chance to work alongside someone with a different style as their own yet feel confident in their own approach. Oxford is different from other tutoring centres as it encourages independence in a comfortable setting. Although the coach is able and ready to provide support to any student, we encourage the students to approach their work independently using the skills we've helped foster in them. I applied to Oxford because my teaching philosophy is centred around self-identification which I find is enforced in Oxford's philosophies. As a coach, I encourage students to ask themselves important questions when facing a challenge in their work to equip them to tackle future like-challenges. People would describe me as a caring leader who is passionate and humorous. I value my role as a mentor and I push my students to reach the potential I can see in them, but I do so when a trusting and positive relationship exists. I take a lot of pride in the experience I have had working with students aged 3-21 through my experiences in schools, boarding, university residences and in recreation. Not only have these experiences challenged me to be adaptable and creative, but they give me the confidence I carry each day as a teacher and a coach. Outside of Oxford I love to sing, craft, learn new things such as languages and instruments, volunteer in our community and spend time with my family and friends.

My name is Julia, people describe me as being a little quirky, but overall I am a good person. I strive to be loyal and honest to everyone I meet. Outside of Oxford, I am a student at York University (studying Linguistics), I volunteer with the Edge program at Holy Family Church, and I also and a huge fan of reading - in fact, my favourite books series is Harry Potter by J.K Rowling, my dream is to eventually visit Harry Potter World in Florida!!
I am new to Oxford, but when I first met the other teachers I now work with, I immediately knew that Oxford is a special place. We have amazing teachers, who are not only going to help our students with academic needs, but will also help each student grow in confidence that will prepare them to take on the world one day! Here at Oxford, we strive to help the students reach their fullest potential, in all parts of their lives. I applied to Oxford because I believe that this is an important lesson for children to learn, and I wish to help them achieve all that they can.

I enjoy helping students succeed in their studies, but also to be motivated to learn and eventually become enthusiastic about the material they learn. Helping others has always been a passion of mine because it is very rewarding, not only for the students, but myself as well.
Oxford stands out when compared to other tutoring centres because we use many approaches which are based off of extensive research pertaining to education , teaching styles and learning styles. These approaches enhance student learning as we provide them with the fundamental skills required to learn, not only from us, but to learn by themselves as well. This then provides them with confidence which motivates further learning.
I applied to Oxford in order to help students learn and obtain insight into their education. Oxford allows me to learn from students. It is helpful for me to experience all sorts of different learning styles in order to learn how to respond and cater to the different needs of each student.
People describe me as a friendly, fun, helpful and enthusiastic person. I have also been told I have great communication skills as I am loud and clear when I speak. My biggest accomplishment in life is still in progress at the University of Toronto Mississauga where I am pursuing an Honours Bachelor of Science in Biology and Chemistry. Some hobbies of mine include hockey, videogames, juggling and guitar. My favourite books are from the Harry Potter Series by J.K . Rowling.

My favourite part about being an Oxford coach is watching the students succeed and become excited about learning. Many of the students who walk in are not confident in themselves, as they struggle with a certain concept or area of their academic life. This results in their inability to learn and unwillingness to try to complete educational challenges. A valued principle of Oxford is to motivate students and reward them when they are making an effort to improve. Instilling the fundamental skills of how to figure out a problem independently allows the student to feel comfortable attempting to solve problems on their own both at Oxford and in school. Oxford is very different then other tutoring centres because each student is assessed individually and given a well-devised academic plan. This plan is tailored to developing the skills that the students may be weaker in. If the student’s academic life is of no trouble to them, Oxford continues to devise a plan that will push the student to their fullest potential and advance them beyond what the student may have thought was possible. I applied to Oxford because I believe their values and principles will better my teaching abilities. I believe that being a good teacher is an ongoing process. There are always new strategies to develop, and there is possibility of growth each day. Learning about the fundamentals of Oxford made me believe that I could learn a lot about being a good teacher, which will better my abilities to ensure the academic success of my students.
People would describe me as a person who omits positive energy. I am recognized for my fun, outgoing, social and kind attitude, which I use in my life as a teacher as well. My biggest accomplishment thus far has been my employment at Oxford. Working for Oxford has been a dream and goal of mine for many years now. The fact that I was able to accomplish this through hard work in my studies and alternate experience is something I am very proud of. Outside of teaching at Oxford, my hobbies are singing and performing. I have been a singer since I was three years old, and performed in front of large crowds throughout various moments of my life. Not only have I carried my vocal abilities with me, but I have also developed a love for song writing, playing piano and playing guitar.
